One of my favorite past times is going to the movies. It doesn't matter if it is with a group or by myself. My family is definitely a movie family, growing up almost every weekend we would go to the movies. It is also one of my family's traditions on Christmas is to go to the movies. My sister worked at the movies and sure enough, it was my first job. I started off taking tickets and cleaning theaters and worked my way up to the concession stand. Still to this day that was one of the best jobs. One, it was probably the easiest job I have had. But I also got to watch movies whenever I wanted, preview the movies before they came out and was able to have all the popcorn and soda. So I definitely couldn't complain. Well at least until the day I got fired from the movie theater. My manager had asked me to clean something and in my opinion, I didn't think I had to. Well, he didn't like that at all and I don't think I will ever forget the last thing he said, "Turn in your vest and bowtie, you're done". At the time I was completely shocked, I remember calling my dad and letting him know. He just started laughing at me. Looking back now, it was pretty hilarious!
When it
comes to going to the movies I genuinely like the whole experience. I like
standing in line for the concession stand, getting a good seat and for a couple
of hours completely immerse myself into a whole other world. To me, it is a
good stress reliever.
Now…when it comes to snacks, I believe you have to go big. You have to get popcorn with butter and a side of jalapenos. A pickle, but not that kosher crap, the real sour pickles. Reese's miniatures for the sweets, and follow it up with a Coca-Cola Coke.
Seating is definitely crucial for me to enjoy the movie. Now you don't want to sit up at the very top, I usually aim for 2 or 3 rows down and try to sit in the middle as best as possible. Anything else is just trash. Like I said earlier, my family goes to the movies every Christmas. This past Christmas we went and saw Bumblebee. We figured the movies wouldn't be too busy…yeah, we were at the very bottom having to lean our heads back to watch the movie. So yeah…trash, but a cute movie!
So if you couldn't tell yet, I like going to the movies. Now since I have moved to Dallas I haven't been able to go as many times as I would like. But with it being the New Year I definitely want to get back to it. I have already mapped out the movies that I want to see for the year. If there are any others that I should check out let me know!
