Well, 2019 is here and I feel like 2018 flew by. There were a lot of ups and downs, but overall I think it was a pretty good year. 2018 taught me a lot and made me realize that there are definitely things that I need to work on for this new year. I have seen other peoples post and to be honest, it has really inspired me to create some new goals and things that I can improve on.
One thing I want to continue from last year is continuing to grow my friendships. We brought in the new year in a great way, went to a friend’s house and had some drinks. We were supposed to go to a house party but decided to stay a little longer at our friends. Once it got closer to midnight we decided to head to the Eagle and dance the rest of the night away. I usually get nervous on New Years, not sure why, but for some reason, those worries were not there. I was able to relax and truly enjoy the night.
One of my main goals is to quit smoking. I have tried almost everything you can imagine...meds, the patch, even tried cold turkey. The meds did not help at all, the patch I was able to quit for a month and cold turkey was a horrible fail. I think the biggest reason I failed was that I really wasn't ready to quit. With the support group I have and the mindset that I am in, I am hoping for the best. I know it is going to be hard but I am ready to quit.
Being more organized is another thing I want to get better at this year. One of the reasons I smoke is because I get stressed out easily when I feel overwhelmed. I think to have a better idea of what is going on with my finances, keeping my apartment cleaner, and more organized at work will really help relieve unnecessary stress.
Self-care is another thing I want to work on. With quitting smoking some things come with it. Your skin produces more oils and for most gaining weight is a thing. So I have started a nightly skin care regimen that will hopefully show some improvement and if I can shrink these pores and postpone the wrinkles a little longer I am all about it. Also being more aware of the food I am eating, now I am still going to enjoy the food I want but add in a healthier meal throughout the day. Some other things I want to do is take the time for myself whether it be taking a bath, watching a movie, reading, or even workout. I think this will also help relieve stress and get my mind right. One last part of this is to start putting more effort in my wardrobe. I have never been that big into clothes and also hate shopping but after watching I don't know how many makeovers shows I really think there is something to having a wardrobe that shows you care about yourself.
So those are the goals that I want to work towards this year. I am a firm believer that if you put it out there it holds you a little more accountable. I hope everyone has a great year and if you have goals I wish you the best in keeping to it and reaching them.
