Halloween 2018
Procrastinating and still making it work!
So two things….First I think I am officially over Halloween for the year, but it was definitely one to remember. Second...I finally got to carve my pumpkin!
As I said in my previous post, this month was going to be busy and that was definitely true. Is there such a thing as a vacation from a Holiday month? If there is I need it. I have also come to the conclusion that I will forever be a procrastinator. Even now I am writing this on a Tuesday when I was supposed to write it out on Monday and clean it up tonight.
Every year I always have an idea of what I want to be for Halloween and true to form it is always a last minute thing. This year I had two costume parties to go to and I was scrambling last minute for each. The first party was a Witch or Wizard themed party. I knew I was going to do something with being a Hufflepuff wizard but didn't have all the details worked out. Luckily a friend had an extra wizard costume that he wasn't going to use so I went with that. I added all the extras the day of the party. I also attempted to do "guyliner" and for the reason, I couldn't tell you, but it happened. I also have much appreciation for anyone that puts on makeup, that crap was hard. Or more I didn't have the patience and was too lazy. But all in all the costume turned out alright. The most exciting thing about that night was too see everybody else's costumes. I would say these guys went all out but that would be an understatement.
The hosts of the party dressed up as the Sanderson sisters, which was spot on. I also saw a guy in full drag that looked freaking amazing. There were also some really funny ones. Like the fortune teller who kept giving out questionable fortunes...I drew the same one twice and I still disagree. What I really appreciated was the detail that they put into their costumes. It was cool to see people's different perceptions on what they thought was a Witch or Wizard. Of course, the night ended up at the Eagle and as always, a good time.
The following weekend was the Pumpkin Carving Party. Everything about this party was amazing. They went all out on the decorations, it was Halloween from the door to the restroom. Yes, when you walked into the restroom and got to the toilet a sensor was triggered and screaming occurred. Luckily it happened before I started to go...or else I would have been walking out with a wet spot. But I was finally able to carve my pumpkin. I almost didn't because sharp objects and a couple of drinks kind of seem unsafe, but I finally gave in and glad I did.
Saturday was the final night to dress up and in my head, I had an idea but it definitely didn't happen. I spent the morning watching Texas Tech lose so that was cool. But I decided to go to Out of the Closet with a couple of friends and see what I could find. The pickings were slim but I ended up with a Pop Art jacket. Of course for the gays, Halloween costumes have to be a little more revealing. So I decided to wear some short shorts underneath. Again, I tried the makeup thing to put in the little details and sure enough struggled just as much. We went to the party and I will say Dallas knows how to throw a themed party.
After all of this, I am exhausted. I will be celebrating tomorrow, actual Halloween, with some food and scary movies. That is all I can handle. I definitely enjoyed Halloween and maybe next year I can actually prepare a little better. But for now it is time to gear up for Thanksgiving and this coming Friday is my company's Day of Giving.
