Labor Day Weekend
Sometimes you just need to get away...
Have you ever just needed to get away? I definitely felt like that this past weekend. It has been a stressful couple of months with transitioning to a new position at work and just dealing with day to day life. Luckily it was Labor Day weekend and that meant an extra day to rest. A few days before Friday a friend invited us to go to his lake house for the weekend and I definitely jumped on it.
Just to let you know where I was at stress wise...my friends brought me McDonald's. Chicken nuggets to be exact! On the very last bite of the nugget, I dunk it into the sauce and I guess I didn't have a good enough grip. Sadly it fell onto my kitchen counter. All I could do is look at it and just laugh. Insert the emoji meme of "this is how close I am to losing my s#!%". Well after that good laugh we hit the road. As we stopped for gas about 30 minutes out, I could already feel the stress leaving. I knew it was going to be a good weekend.
When we got to my friend's parents' house, we hung out for a bit and decided to head out to Wynnstar Casino. We met up with some other friends and started walking around. I have come to the conclusion that I am definitely not a gambler. $20 was my limit and I lost most of it at the Willy Wonka machine. We got back pretty late and just hung around.
The next day was my favorite time...Texas Tech game day...well sad to say but we lost. I really hope they get it together. I am a Red Raider through and through, but it is hard sometimes. After that, we went out to the lake and it was nice to just get out and not be on a schedule or any time constraints. The water felt amazing and the weather was great. Even though we did not stay out for very long it was nice just to take a breather.
We decided to get food and stay in that night and play board games. I don't remember the last time I had a game night and I almost forgot how much I loved them. We also had to gay it up somehow and decided to do facemasks. Now it burned so good but I could tell after that it helped a little. I definitely need all the help I can get with these pores.
Sunday most of us woke up around noon and just lunged around. We got back to Dallas in the afternoon and I decided to stay in and keep the relaxation going. I watched Girls Trip and the classic Hot Chick. I woke up on Monday and decided it was a good time to have some coffee and start reading a book that I had wanted to for a while now... Ready Player One. I have heard a lot of good things and so far it is definitely living up to what everyone is saying.
All in all this past weekend was definitely needed...a huge shout out to my friend for the invite. Very much appreciated. I woke up this morning feeling rested, motivated, and ready to take on the week. So my question to you...I know I can't go to the lake every weekend, so what are some of your things to do in Dallas when you want to "get away"? Leave your ideas in the comment section.
